Two-time Tony Award nominee Alison Fraser “delivers real chills” (Time Out New York) in this third psychological horror play from “gory auteur” (Time Out New York) Aaron Mark, following his acclaimed Empanada Loca with Daphne Rubin- Vega and Another Medea with Tom Hewitt.

 

Squeamish is the tale of an Upper West Side psychoanalyst and recovering alcoholic with a debilitating fear of blood. Distraught after her nephew’s sudden death, she finds herself off her meds in her hometown of Lubbock, Texas trying to reclaim her sanity. She’s led to what seems like a miracle cure for depression in an underground naturalistic practice of ingesting the very thing she’s afraid of - but her newfound clarity only leads her to horrifying revelations.

AARON MARK (Writer-Director) is a New York-based playwright and director. As writer-director: Empanada Loca with Daphne Rubin-Vega(Labyrinth Theater Company; 3 Drama Desk noms, OCC nom; published by DPS; audioplay on Audible and iTunes), and Another Medea with Tom Hewitt (AFO at the Cherry Lane and Wild Project). His two-person play Deer (also published by DPS) premiered in March at Stage West. Directing credits include The Mystery of Irma Vep and Deathtrap (Berkshire Theatre Festival); Ben Rimalower’s long-running, award-winning Patti Issues and Bad With Money (Duplex and tours, recordings on Roven Records); Hedwig... (BC/EFA at New World Stages); and numerous development (NYTW, Blank Theatre, Theater for the New City) and cabaret (Joe’s Pub, 54 Below, Beechman). Projects in development include an immersive play inspired by Schnitzler’s Traumnovelle, a stage thriller about the Witness Protection Program, a fourth
full-length monologue play, and a commission for Audible. Aaron is a NYTW Usual Suspect and a member of SDC.

ALISON FRASER was recently seen as Mommy in Lila Neugebauer’s production of Edward Albee’s The Sandbox and The Landlady in Adrienne Kennedy’s Funnyhouse of a Negro at the Signature Theatre, and Nancy Reagan and Betty Ford in Michael John LaChiusa’s First Daughter Suite at the Public Theater, for which she was nominated for both a Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel Award. She is a two-time Tony Award nominee for The Secret Garden and Romance/Romance. Other Broadway roles includes Dorine in Tartuffe at Circle in the Square, Helena Landless in The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and Tessie Tura in Arthur Laurents’s production of Gypsy starring Patti LuPone. She has created many roles Off-Broadway including Trina in William Finn’s March of the Falsettos and In Trousers, Arsinoé in David Ives’ The School For Lies, Sister Walburga in Charles Busch’s The Divine Sister, Jessie in Terrence McNally’s Dedication or the Stuff of Dreams, The Matron (opposite Shirley Knight) in the world premiere of Tennessee Williams’ In Masks Outrageous and Austere, and Miss Drumgoole in Todd Rundgren’s Up Against It. Film and TV credits include the new SyFy series Happy! opposite Christopher Meloni, High Maintenance, Happyish, Smash, It Could Be Worse, Impossible Monsters, Blowtorch, Socks and Bonds, Understudies, Jack in a Box, and The Thing About My Folks opposite Peter Falk and Paul Reiser. She has been heard on thousands of radio and television commercials, hundreds of audiobooks, and dozens of albums, including three solo efforts: A New York Romance, Men In My Life, and Tennessee Williams: Words and Music. Ms. Fraser is a NYTW Usual Suspect.
